SUCCESS STORY - TUAS DESALINATION PLANT

Sep 2, 2019

Tuas Desalination Plant is named Desalination Plant of the Year 2019 at this year’s Global Water Awards, presented at the Global Water Summit in London. Tuas Desalination Plant produces up to 30 million gallons a day (mgd) of drinking water, the amount used by around 200,000 households daily.

Excel Marco is tasked to provide the Control System for the entire Tuas Desalination Plant (TDP) using Siemens technology for Process Control and Electrical Monitoring System, from intake of seawater, to pre-treatment, Reverse-Osmosis, post-treatment and finally distribution of treated water to the National Tap.

Excel Marco executed the project utilizing Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 solution in TDP Process Control Integration. Advanced System Components such as Plant Device Management (PDM), Process Historian and Information Servers are also fully integrated to Plant Process Control.

One of PCS 7 Technology components, SIMIT is used as an Operator Training Simulator (OTS) in the project. It is to train plant operators about plant operation, to response operation scenarios and enhance consistency in operators’ response. It also provides operators with operation instruction for start-up of process on a partially virtual plant.
